Washington DC - March 12 - Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar announced that the Office of Indian Energy and Economic Development has awarded $3.7 million to tribes that are developing renewable energy resources for their communities.

Washington DC - February 11 - Geothermal energy capacity expanded 6% in the United States in 2009, due to six new geothermal plants which came online, adding 176.68 megawatts (MW).The total online capacity in the U.S. reached 3,152.72 MW as of August 2009.
