Washington DC - March 5 - Individuals who ride public transportation can save on average $9,215 annually based on the March 3, 2010 national average gas price and unreserved monthly parking rate. The total savings as compared to last year at this time equates to an increase of an additional $715 in savings per year for transit commuters.

Washington DC - November 4 - The U.S. Department of Agriculture has designated counties in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma as primary natural disaster areas because of losses caused by drought, above-normal temperatures and associated wildfires that that occurred during 2009.

Washington DC - September 29 - Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced that ranchers who have signed up for the Livestock Forage Disaster Program have begun receiving disaster payments for forage losses due to severe drought.

Washington DC -April 21- Getting a Farm Bill passed yet this year is a top priority for the National Farmers Union (NFU). Tom Buis, President of NFU, told WashingtonView Radio today that the House and Senate need to come to an agreement soon.
